While I have camped here for years on and off and loved the park, a recent experience will keep me from ever visiting again. Last week my wife and I were boating in the st. Lawrence and we were suddenly stranded due to high winds. We pulled into cedar point and called them on the phone. We explained the situation and let them know we wanted to call for a truck and trailer to come get us. The woman was rude and only kept saying that the docks were closed and we could not tie up while we were waiting. I totally understand why the docks ere closed, (high water levels) but the utter lack of common sense on the park employee's part will keep me from returning. We even offered to pay whatever fees were necessary but nope, docks are closed.
My family's been coming here for over 45 years, starting with my grandparents. We love this park. So many memories have been made here for our family, of which we now typically bring between 50-60 members during our week long stay in July. They do an excellent job of keeping the facilities and grounds. They have a fantastic playground, excellent beach set-up, and convenient marina. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Probably the best state park I've visited.
Playground, beach, activity barn all w/ in a short distance from each other. You can normally sit on benches & watch your children & see them on the beach & playground. The activity barn is a short distance away & still in sight. You can see the cargo ships as they go past on the St Lawrence River. The activity barn is clean, well staffed, they play BINGO daily at 10:00 am.
Beautiful state park. Decent size too. Lots of full hook ups, electric and renting areas scattered around the grounds. Bathroom facilities in some areas are brand new. Beach area has life guards and lots of trees near by for people who like the shade at the beach. Boat launch on site with docking. Playground area for the kids right at the beach.
Great place to go camping. But only go before June 20, because of all the kids get out of school. And the lifeguard won't let you wear goggles with the nose cover. Fun fact Cedar Point State Park offers a beach, picnic tables and pavilions, a playground, a marina, fishing pier, hunting (seasonal waterfowl), recreation programs, a boat launch and docks, a campground with tent and trailer sites.
